Housekeeping task workflow

Every housekeeping task moves through the same four stages: pending → in progress → completed → verified. A task isn't finished the moment an attendant finishes cleaning - it's finished once a supervisor verifies it.

Where tasks come from

Most tasks are generated automatically rather than typed in by hand:

  • Stayover tasks are created for occupied rooms each day.
  • Departure tasks are pre-generated ahead of a guest's scheduled checkout, so the room is queued for cleaning as soon as the guest actually leaves - not created from scratch at that moment.

A supervisor can also create a task manually for anything outside the normal daily cycle.

Assigning tasks

Tasks can be assigned to individual attendants, or batch-assigned across a zone using workload-aware balancing, which spreads tasks across available staff instead of loading up whoever comes first on the list.

Working a task

  1. The attendant opens the task and moves it to in progress.
  2. If the task type has a checklist configured, each item is checked off as it's done, and before/after photos can be attached for QA.
  3. Once everything is done, the attendant marks it completed - it's not verified yet.
  4. A supervisor reviews the completed task (checklist and photos included, if configured) and marks it verified, which is what actually updates the room's housekeeping status to ready.

Do Not Disturb

If a guest has set Do Not Disturb, the room shows a clear DND indicator on the room grid and the task board, so housekeeping knows not to enter without checking first.
